Uno de los hallazgos m%u00e1s significativos fue la identificaci%u00f3n de mol%u00e9culas menores de 30 nucle%u00f3tidos de %u00e1cido ribonucleico (ARN). Est%u00e1s mol%u00e9culas se conocen como ARN peque%u00f1os que juegan un papel importante en la regulaci%u00f3n de la expresi%u00f3n g%u00e9nica, impactando en diversos procesos como el desarrollo celular, la diferenciaci%u00f3n y/o la respuesta diversos tipos de estr%u00e9s. De tal forma que, el estudio de los ARN peque%u00f1os ha mejorado nuestra comprensi%u00f3n de los mecanismos de regulaci%u00f3n de la expresi%u00f3n g%u00e9nica, facilitando el avance en el dise%u00f1o de diversas terapias gen%u00e9ticas y virales en diversos organismos, as%u00ed como en innovaciones biotecnol%u00f3gicas.As%u00ed con la investigaci%u00f3n de los ARN peque%u00f1os, se ha descubierto un nuevo terreno de aplicaciones, con resultados potencialmente prometedores como en la medicina y la mejora de cultivos. Por ello, este trabajo tiene como objetivo ilustrar la naturaleza de los peque%u00f1os RNAs, su biog%u00e9nesis y las funciones que desempe%u00f1an en la biolog%u00eda de los seres vivos. One of the most significant findings was the identification of ribonucleic acid (RNA) molecules smaller than 30 nucleotides. These molecules are called small RNAs and play an important role in the regulation of gene expression, impacting various processes such as cell development, differentiation and/or response to various types of stress. Thus, the study of small RNAs has improved our understanding of the mechanisms of regulation of gene expression, facilitating progress in the design of various genetic and viral therapies in various organisms, as well as in biotechnological innovations.Thus, with the research of small RNAs, a new field of applications has been discovered, with potentially promising results in the field of medicine and crops improvement. Therefore, this work aims to illustrate the nature of small RNAs, their biogenesis and the functions they play in the biology of living beings. Keywords: Small RNAs, biogenesis, miRNARESUMENABSTRACT
